These communities are styled like apartments, with 24-hour on-site security, and range from 20 to 200 residents. They provide assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, ambulating, transferring, personal hygiene, and even have Alzheimer’s/Dementia programs. Many Assisted Livings have restaurant-style dining, laundry and housekeeping services, activities, community events, medication programs, and transportation services.
“Since dad moved into his own apartment, the twinkle has returned to his eyes. He looks forward to having breakfast with his pals and reading the morning paper. His med intake is monitored now, and with my busy schedule, I don’t have to worry about any of his appointments. Housekeeping, laundry…it’s all taken care of now. With all the activities they provide (Poker Night is his favorite), he doesn’t even have time to get depressed. Even though there’s help when he needs it, my dad feels like he’s regained his independence.”
